Gossip: Ramos tipped for United switch

RAMOS COULD BE UNITED BOUND

Several of Monday’s papers are reporting that Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos is set to play a part in David de Gea’s return to Madrid.

Ramos is reportedly upset that Madrid have allowed his contract to run down into its final two years and is keen on a summer exit, with Manchester United said to be his preferred destination.

This could be a good fit for both sides, with De Gea longing for a return home while United need to add an experienced defender to their ranks.

The fact that Ramos, who would demand a fee of around £45million, can play right-back will also be a big draw for Louis van Gaal.

The Saints are still hopeful of persuading the Belgian international to return to St Mary’s, while Jose Mourinho is clearly looking long-term at an eventual replacement for inspirational skipper John Terry.

One thing is for certain, Austin will not be playing in the Championship next season but it remains to be seen which club’s colours he will be wearing come the start of 2015-16.
