Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia has reportedly put a £17m asking price on the head of Emerson Palmieri after two Italian sides expressed an interest in signing him.

The 26-year-old wing-back was signed in January 2018 from Roma but has never established himself as a regular.

This season, he’s been limited to just two Premier League appearances and is yet to feature under Thomas Tuchel.

The German already has Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso as options and Palmieri has been relegated to third choice.

As such, he’s been deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge with the Blues willing to listen to offers.

Indeed, as per Calciomercato, both Inter Milan and Napoli have expressed their interest in the Italy international.

Inter boss Antonio Conte is thought to be a big fan of the defender. He brought Emerson to Stamford Bridge in January 2018 during his spell as Blues manager.

Napoli are also interested in taking Emerson back to Serie A. Boss Gennaro Gattuso wants Emerson to provide competition for current left-back Elseid Hysaj.

However, signing Palmieri will not come cheap. With the player contracted to the club until summer 2022, Chelsea director Granovskaia is said to have told his suitors he comes with a £17m asking price. That would represent a small loss on the fee the Blues paid Roma in 2018.

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel says special moments have helped build a strong bond between his players.

Speaking about the player’s situation recently, Tuchel said: “I have another guy who I would love to mention in Emerson who suffers from bad decisions by me.

“He does not play but he is an amazing guy who trains at the highest level and he never lets the team down with his mentality. It was a super hard decision today to have him out of the squad, the same with Tammy [Abraham].

“It is like this, we have a strong group. The guys have to keep on fighting. There’s no other way.”

Emerson last played for the Blues in February, during the 1-0 FA Cup victory over Barnsley.

Tuchel stresses Pulisic patience

Meanwhile, Tuchel has insisted Christian Pulisic remains an integral part of his squad.

Regarding his lack of gametime prior to his first league start under Tuchel on Saturday, the German said: “When you sign and play for Chelsea, it’s part of the job description to be patient and impatient at the same time. All of my players are competitors and they want to play every minute.

“At the same time, when you’re not selected, you have to stay patient and not lose confidence.

“When it was possible for him to start around Sheffield United and Barnsley, one game came too soon and Barnsley wasn’t easy.

“If you turn it around, it’s the duty of the players to show up and really earn to play. This is what Christian does.

“I feel him in the last days very positive and doing the very best in his situation.”
