Grealish can do better than Man Utd, says Villa old boy

Aston Villa talisman Jack Grealish is too good for Manchester United, according to Gabriel Agbonlahor.

The 24-year-old has lifted his game to another level with Villa this season and has contributed nine goals and six assists in all competitions.

Grealish is expected to be called up by England boss Gareth Southgate next month and Manchester United have been linked with a summer move for the attacking midfielder.

Grealish is building up for Villa’s cup final on Sunday but Dean Smith recognises that victory over Manchester City at Wembley – and with it a place in Europe next season – is unlikely to sway Grealish if his head is turned, and instead believes his future rests on whether Villa stay in the Premier League.

Asked whether victory over City would make it easier to keep Grealish in the summer, Smith replied: “I don’t know. That’s a question we’ll have to answer in the summer.”

And Agbonlahor believes his old team-mate should be aiming higher than a move to Old Trafford.

“I am not just saying this as I have played with him, but I honestly think he is the best attacking-midfield option that England have got at this current time,” he told The Sun.

“That is why, when people say Grealish to Manchester United, he could do so much better than that.

“He could walk into any team in the world, even Barcelona or Juventus. For where Manchester United are now, he could go to better teams around the world, so he doesn’t need to limit himself to just United and focus on teams who are playing in the Champions League.

“The good thing about Jack is that he can run with and without the ball, play in different positions and score goals. He is the type of player that fans of football will go to a game to specifically watch him, even if they aren’t fans of Villa.”
