Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is plotting a huge bid to lure a star Barcelona midfielder to the Premier League, a report claims.

According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Guardiola is aiming to recreate the Barca midfield which brought him success at the Nou Camp.

In order to do that, he has identified two midfielders that he could bring in before next season who could fill the Xavi and Sergio Busquets type roles.

The report states that Guardiola has been impressed with Brazilian midfielder Arthur since his arrival at the Catalan giants from Gremio.

As a result, the former Bayern Munich boss is lining up a huge £93.5m (€105.3m) offer for the playmaker next summer, in the hopes he can be the next Xavi.

In addition, Borussia Dortmund star Julian Weigl has apparently been selected as the ideal player to play like Sergio Busquets in more of a holding role.

Guardiola is said to be a big fan of Weigl’s playing style, although the player will not come cheap as Dortmund are reportedly wanting €75m for his signature.
