Haaland responds to talk of Dortmund exit amid Liverpool, Man Utd links

Erling Braut Haaland has revealed that he is not thinking of leaving Borussia Dortmund any time soon.

After weeks of being linked with Manchester United, Haaland disappointed those who wanted to see him in the Premier League by joining Dortmund from RB Salzburg in January.

The Norwegian – who was given his senior debut at Molde by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – has hit the ground running in Germany. He has scored 13 Bundesliga goals in 10 starts.

Haaland’s potential is obvious, and some see his move to Dortmund as just a stepping stone. Indeed, he has even been tipped to join Liverpool, who became Premier League champions this week.

However, the 19-year-old says he has not thought about his next destination just yet.

He told Funke Media Group: “I don’t think much about the future, I live in the present and decide what is best for my career at each specific moment.

“So I joined Dortmund in winter with a lot of conviction.

“They are one of the best teams in the world, I have signed a long contract and I have practically just arrived. So now I don’t think about leaving at all.”

Haaland’s comments seem to affirm reports from May that he had given his word to Dortmund about staying until at least 2022.

HAALAND REVEALS DORTMUND AIMS

Outlining more of what he wants to achieve in Germany, Haaland vowed that he wants to win trophies with Dortmund.

Lucien Favre’s side pushed Bayern Munich for large portions of this season. However, the defeat to Bayern all but ended their chances, with an eighth successive title confirmed for the Bavarians.

But Haaland wants to win honours at Dortmund – another sign of his will to stay there.

He added: “Unfortunately we also lost both games against Bayern. Without these points it is doubly difficult to end up in front of them due to their strength.

“I want to achieve something with BVB, not always just second, but also to win titles if possible. We should set goals, we want to attack.”
