Harper calls for Hull unity

Monday night’s home defeat to Arsenal left City just a point clear of third-bottom Sunderland, who have a game in hand, and some fans held up signs calling on owner Assem Allam to sell up.

Allam’s ongoing bid to have the club’s name changed to Hull Tigers continues to cause unrest on Humberside, but goalkeeper Harper has called for unity as the fight for survival goes on.

Hull face top-six sides Tottenham and Manchester United on the final two weekends, and Saturday’s meeting with the Premier League’s bottom club has taken on huge importance.

Harper, named supporters’ player of the month for April, tweeted: “Thank you to all the Hull City fans that voted for me. Huge game now on Saturday.

“We need you all behind us on Saturday, no dissent or protests just 90 minutes’ fantastic support to help us get the result we need.”
