Jack Harrison has revealed his relief after Leeds finally completed his permanent signing from Manchester City for an undisclosed fee.

Harrison, 24, who has agreed a three-year deal, has spent the last three seasons on loan at Elland Road. Leeds, who announced earlier on Friday that Player of the Year Stuart Dallas had signed a new three-year contract, confirmed they had taken up their option to make Harrison’s stay permanent.

The West Yorkshire club said: “As part of his loan deal last season, an option was put in place for Leeds to sign Harrison on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee, which has now been activated.

“Harrison has put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Elland Road, running until the summer of 2024.”

Harrison has made 128 appearances in all competitions for Leeds and played a key role in the club’s return to the Premier League.

He featured in 36 league games for Leeds last season, scoring eight goals, as they completed their first top-flight campaign in 16 years, finishing ninth.

Leeds United are said to be closing in on the signing of Uruguayan international Nahitan Nandez from Italian side Cagliari.

City signed Harrison from sister club New York City in January 2018 and – after a brief temporary spell at Middlesbrough – he joined Leeds on a season-long loan the following July.

Harrison is Leeds’ second summer signing following the arrival of teenage winger Amari Miller from Birmingham.

Harrison makes Leeds vow

“It’s been a long time coming,” Harrison told LUTV.

“It has been a great opportunity to be here and to have finally signed after going through all the history with this club is a great opportunity.

“I will have to keep pushing to improve as a player and accept more responsibility within the team. As long as I keep pushing myself and working hard like I have been these last three years, that will happen.

“Now that it has finally happened, I am just excited for the journey and what is to come.”
