Harry Kane chooses ‘only’ club he will leave Tottenham for as Man Utd target eyes two transfer methods

Manchester United are the only club Harry Kane wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur for, according to a report – and he has two ways of making it happen.

Kane is approaching the final year of his contract at Tottenham, where he is the all-time leading goalscorer. He has just completed another phenomenal season on an individual level, scoring 32 goals from 49 games in all competitions.

Within a couple more seasons, he has every chance of breaking Alan Shearer’s record as the Premier League’s most prolific marksman of all time. Whether he would pass the landmark in Tottenham colours, though, is up for question.

Man Utd have made Kane their top target this summer as they look for an upgrade at centre-forward. He has also attracted interest from clubs such as Chelsea – where he could reunite with Mauricio Pochettino – and Bayern Munich.

But according to the latest from The Sun, the ‘only’ club Kane is considering joining is Man Utd.

Indeed, the Red Devils have become the ‘only viable option’ for Kane to move to in the Premier League. Even so, it will be hard for them to convince Daniel Levy to sell him from one English side to another.

Therefore, the most likely outcome will be for Kane to run down the final year of his Tottenham contract before trying to join Man Utd on a free transfer in 2024.

Of course, there is the risk that Man Utd might have bought another striker by then if it is a need that Erik ten Hag wants to immediately address.

Harry Kane to Man Utd in 2023 or 2024?

If Kane really is their priority, as is believed to be the case, they might try and test Tottenham’s resolve with a bid this summer. Even if they do end up having to settle for an alternative, the chance to snap Kane up for free in 2024 would likely still be appealing to almost any club.

Therefore, there could be an even greater pool of suitors for Kane this time next year if he hasn’t become a Man Utd player before then.

As things stand, it looks likely that Kane could have one more season as a Tottenham player. There won’t be any European football on offer for them, while it remains unclear who will be managing the side.

But Kane could add to his legend at Tottenham, despite them being open to selling him abroad if he doesn’t renew his deal.

So far, the England captain has amassed 435 appearances and 280 goals for Tottenham. Sadly, he doesn’t have the medals in his cabinet to match his talent.

Breaking records will ensure his legacy, but as he approaches his 30th birthday, being part of a competitive team will be on his mind.

For now, he is simply thinking about his upcoming international commitments in Euro 2024 qualification.
