Harry Kane: Second Bayern bid confirmed as report reveals Tottenham response, with striker urged to put his faith in Postecoglou
Harry Kane represents England against Germany
Bayern have launched a second, improved offer for Tottenham star Harry Kane, with one source detailing how the north London side will respond and a pundit urging the striker to stay put.
Kane has entered the final 12 months of his Tottenham contract. If he decides against renewing his terms with the club, then they must consider selling him this summer. Otherwise, they risk losing one of their best ever players on a free transfer.
Kane was originally a target for Manchester United. However, Tottenham had no intention of strengthening a Premier League rival and therefore warned the Red Devils off with a huge £100million valuation.
Bayern have since emerged as the most likely next destination for Kane. Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel thinks the England captain is the perfect solution to his goalscoring problem. And club chiefs at the Allianz Arena also believe Kane wants to join them.
Bayern opened the bidding at £60m plus add-ons, which was immediately rejected by Spurs. They were soon tipped to return with an offer worth £80m plus add-ons.
However, the Daily Mail then explained how Bayern’s improved proposal would actually come in at around £68m plus bonuses, far away from Spurs’ demands.

On Sunday, Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg confirmed that the new offer had been sent. He added that Kane ‘definitely’ wants to sign for Bayern this summer.
According to an update from the Daily Mail, Spurs ‘will dismiss’ the latest bid for their star man as it is still nowhere near their £100m price tag.
Tottenham reject second Bayern offer for Harry Kane
The report adds that the Spurs hierarchy fully expect Kane to be playing for them next season, even though they cannot offer him the chance to even compete in the Europa Conference League.
Unless Bayern significantly raise their offer, it looks like the 29-year-old will be forced to remain at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until he can leave as a free agent in summer 2024.
Bayern will try to land him again next year if this happens, although they know they will face greater competition for his services. After all, one of the greatest strikers in the world would be available for no fee.
Amid all the swirling rumours, former Spurs player Gus Poyet – who now manages the Greek national team – has given his verdict on Kane’s situation.
During a recent interview (via football.london), he backed Kane to stay and explained how new boss Ange Postecoglou would find it very tough if the Spurs talisman departs.
“Based on previous experience, I would say Harry Kane will still be at Tottenham next season. Two years ago I thought he was going to Manchester City. I was not even 99% sure, I was 100% sure, and then he stayed,” Poyet said.
Postecoglou future could hinge on striker’s decision
“It will be a massive decision for Tottenham, for Harry, and for everyone involved, and of course, as the coach, Ange Postecoglou would like him to stay.
“There have been so many rumours and so many things happening over the past two or three years so I can’t say for sure what is going to happen. I think the only person who really knows is Harry Kane.”
Poyet continued: “I think the next 12 months will be hard for Ange Postecoglou. It will be even harder if Harry Kane leaves. As a coach it’s hard when you get to the club and you have a lot of energy and then they tell you that Harry Kane might leave and you think, ‘oh, thank you, but maybe you could have told me before I signed the contract!’.
“I don’t know how Postecoglou’s finished squad is going to look and how Spurs do next season will depend on the players that they keep and the players that they bring in. There have been so many transfer rumours recently and I’m sure that in the next few days Postecoglou will have his say on those decisions.
“For example, we don’t know how long Rodrigo Bentancur is going to be out for and it’s things like that that can affect your season. Tottenham’s inconsistencies have been because of things like that. It wasn’t about the quality of their players, it was about the inconsistency – in one game everybody looked up for it and the next week it looked like a totally different group of players. For me, this season is about consistency.”
Meanwhile, an insider has confirmed that Spurs have ‘enquired’ about signing a big-name Man Utd player.
