Harry Kane: Striker ‘seriously’ looking at massive proposal to quit Tottenham as Man Utd battle new rival

Harry Kane England September 2022

Harry Kane will strongly consider a move away from Tottenham this summer after reaching a critical crossroads in his career, it has been claimed.

The England captain’s deal at Spurs is due to expire in summer 2024 and talks over a new deal are slotted in for this summer. And while interest in signing Kane is as strong as ever, it had been expected that Kane would cement his future to Tottenham.

However, a turbulent season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium appears to have cast fresh doubts over the player’s future. Indeed, the club are reportedly debating over whether to sack Antonio Conte in the wake of his comments over the weekend. And following his attack on Tottenham’s players and their hierarchy, there are many who believe his position is now untenable.

To that end, this feature looks at the favourites to replace the Italian at the helm.

That said, Daniel Levy must decide whether Spurs’ top-four prospects are better served with, or without, Conte at the helm. And even if he does survive for now, the fact his deal expires in the summer means a change is imminent at some point soon.

Tottenham are currently sat in fourth place, but face a tough task to hang on to the spot. And with Newcastle, Liverpool and potentially also Brighton breathing down their necks, the race for the Champions League will likely go down to the wire.

Should Tottenham miss out, that will place Kane’s future at the club in even more peril.

And the England skipper will not be short of options were he to decide to move on.

Kane willing to consider Spurs exit as top suitor readies move

That chase is seemingly being led by Manchester United, while Bayern Munich are credited with a strong interest too.

However, Real Madrid are now very much back on the scene as they consider a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema.

And mounting reports suggest they are willing to meet Levy’s £100m asking price this summer, with the Spurs chairman preferring to sell  -if he is forced to – to an overseas club.

Whatever the future holds, former Spurs full-back Alan Hutton reckons Kane is at a major crossroads this summer.

And, speaking to Football Insider, he reckons the 29-year-old will seriously consider a move away.

“I think you would have to look at it,” Hutton said. “The big question mark is how much are we talking? He is just turning 30, how much is a team willing to spend?

“A season ago I thought he would stay for life because they got a new coach in. They were building something for the future. It is the same old again. They are probably just going to make top four if they even do.

“So I think he will seriously look at it and see if he needs to go and play football elsewhere.

“Man United are also looking for a striker, Real Madrid obviously as well. These are teams where he could go and actually win something. It is a massive summer for him personally.”

Unlike two summers ago when Man City were sniffing around Kane, it very much feels like a case of now or never for Spurs’ record goalscorer.
