Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire shared X-rated tirades with one another during Manchester United’s bleak 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace on Wednesday night, it has emerged.

A day after rivals Manchester City made it 21 wins in a row to open up a 15-point gap at the top, the Red Devils were left frustrated in a goalless draw with the Eagles and have won only one of their last five matches in the division.

Liverpool host Chelsea on Thursday night and the two clubs will want to close the gap on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

United’s performance at Selhurst Park has drawn fierce criticism from pundit Gary Neville.

However, United’s players are clearly feeling the frustrations of their current malaise. Indeed, according to Metro, two of their most prominent players in Rashford and Maguire were involved in a heated outburst during the game

Chances in the game were few and far between for United. Indeed, in the 69th minute, Rashford lost his temper with Maguire after the United skipper criticised the forward for failing to stay onside.

Maguire, who had headed the ball forward, told Rashford to ‘f***ing stay onside’. But after being penalised for being offside, Rashford snapped back at Maguire with: ‘Shut the f*** up, f***ing nobhead.’

It’s understood that all is fine between the pair and United are unlikely to investigate the matter further. However, the row between the pair clearly sums up the frustration being felt at United as their title challenge has crumbled away.

Solskjaer frustrated

Speaking after the stalemate against the Eagles, Solskjaer told Sky Sports: “It’s disappointing. ‘We were just a little bit off. If you’re not spot on you won’t win games. Palace always make it hard for you.

“In the second half we never got going.

“Sometimes it’s human nature, sometimes you don’t work at your best. Today we didn’t. It’s been a long season – I’m not blaming that because everyone has the same season. You’re playing against a good team who make you play the way they want to.

“We kept giving the ball away. There were times in the first half we built some pressure, had some half decent chances. But then we kept giving it away. Then you don’t build momentum and that’s the game you get.”
