Havertz firms up January transfer stance with Liverpool, Man Utd waiting

Kai Havertz TEAMtalk

Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz will ignore interest from Liverpool and Manchester United – for now – by staying in the Bundesliga until the end of the season, according to a report.

The 20-year-old first grabbed the attention of the Premier League duo – as well as Chelsea and Tottenham – last season, when he scored 20 goals and assisted seven others for Leverkusen.

Havertz has again been linked with a move to the English top flight this term and earlier reports said that the player’s agent has also been in contact with Manchester City and Real Madrid, among others.

More recent claims suggested that a move to Old Trafford would be the likeliest of options for seven-cap Germany international Havertz.

However, according to Sky Sports, the midfielder is happy at Leverkusen and, at the very least, wants to see out the season with his current employers before thinking about a move elsewhere.

Havertz has scored three times in 19 appearances so far this term, with Leverkusen seventh in the Bundesliga table.

In other transfer news, four bids have reportedly been received for RB Salzburg striker Erling Braut Haaland.

The 19-year-old is being targeted across Europe after announcing himself with eight goals in six Champions League appearances in this season’s group stage – and 28 strikes in 22 games overall for the Austrian side.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United are said to be keen on the Norwegian, however, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Juventus are all said to have made bids for his services.

The key to any move will reportedly be over where Haaland feels he can get the most game time.
