Hazard reveals why Liverpool star Salah flopped at Chelsea

Eden Hazard has admitted that Liverpool star Mo Salah was not given a fair crack of the whip during his time at Chelsea.

Salah joined Chelsea from Swiss side FC Basel back in 2014, but only amassed 19 appearances for the Blues before being loaned to Serie A outfit Fiorentina.

The 25-year-old arrived at Anfield from Roma, and has settled in to life with the Reds perfectly having netted a league-high nine Premier League goals.

Now, his former teammate Hazard has conceded that the Egypt international was not given a fair shot at Chelsea.

“He’s a top, top, top player,” said Hazard.

“He did not get his chance at Chelsea maybe because of the manager, because of the other players? I don’t know.

“He has quality but in that period I remember we had me, Willian, Oscar, so for him it was not easy.”

Chelsea travel to Anfield to face Liverpool on Saturday, with three points currently separating the teams. However, Hazard insists that his side can’t just focus on Salah.

“He is a fantastic striker and this season he has scored a lot of goals. It is always good to play against a friend but Liverpool is not only about Salah. They have a lot of quality players.

“A lot of players didn’t play on Wednesday [in the Champions League victory against Qarabag] and I played only 60 minutes and N’Golo [Kante] also came off, so we can be fresh on Saturday, even if the game is close,” the 26-year old added.
