Headline act
County counting the cost of new found riches
It’s at times like these that you begin to understand what Premier League clubs and players, who spend every day in the media spotlight, have to put up with.
There are journalists out there crawling all over our club, looking for any scrap of information that might just make things go pear shaped for us. When there’s nothing to report, we are all over the news with ‘murky goings on’, and ‘clouds of deception’ apparently lingering around Meadow Lane.
So…where were all the Notts County headlines this morning?
When there’s some seemingly positive news on the horizon for Notts County, they don’t say a thing. Ratification from the Football League appears to be close, and then we can all get on with our lives.
I must take this opportunity to thank and commend Peter Trembling on the way he’s dealt with the disgraceful behaviour of the media, and his continued commitment to the club.
Ludicrous
There are already about 2,000 Notts fans boycotting The Sun after some libellous rubbish was written about our management structure and plans for the future. The club have also apparently issued writs against two national papers, which seem intent on continually attempting to dig Notts into a hole.
Then we’re linked with Roberto Mancini, and Special Agent Platt, who despite having a special place in many Notts fans hearts, would only be second behind Dennis Wise in the next ‘Most Unwanted Man in Nottingham’ competition.. What is the world coming to?
We really don’t need Mancini, we don’t want Platt, we don’t want Wise, we don’t want Laurel, and Hardy is a waste of space. We don’t need someone to (clears throat) ‘replace’ Sol Campbell; we’ll be just fine thank you very much.
Let’s just let McParland get on with his job, and if he’s not within striking distance of an automatic promotion spot on Jan 1st, then I think they’ll change the man in the hot seat. For now though, can we just get back to the football?
Improving
We finally broke a hoodoo last week at Lincoln, and won a midweek league game for the first time in years. Luke Rogers was on fire in pre-season and despite always looking a danger, didn’t get off the mark until the visit to Sincil Bank.
We think he may have scored the slowest hat-trick ever within 90 minutes, scoring after 14 seconds, and then in the 90th minute. Not sure if it wins the accolade, but if it does, it’ll take some beating!
Results on the pitch are improving, unbeaten so far at home, and four points from two tough away games last week, might just have come at the right time.
We entertain Torquay on Sunday evening in front of the Sky cameras, so hopefully we’re looking at all three points there. Then comes the real October with Rotherham, Crewe and Shrewsbury all waiting in the wings for a pop at the Magpies.
If we can get going early against Torquay, who are seemingly awful, then it sets us up well for a decent October. Come November, I think we’ll really find out if we have the metal to go with the money.
Is McParland the right man for the job? Who really has the power at Meadow Lane? Fill in the feedback form below and we’ll publish the best of your views.
