Hefty Grealish release clause revealed as Premier League clubs circle

Aston Villa star Jack Grealish has a buyout clause in his new contract, according to reports.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder recently extended his contract with the club until 2023, but the Daily Mirror reports that his new deal includes a release clause if the club aren’t promoted to the Premier League – meaning he would be allowed to leave for £30m.

Tottenham were heavily linked with Grealish in the summer, with reports of a failed £25m bid, but he eventually stayed put at his boyhood club. However, Villa will now not be able to stand in his way if a club comes up with the required amount.

Grealish became Villa’s highest-paid player after seeing his wages doubled as part of his new contract. To date, he has played more than 100 games for the club, scoring nine goals.
