Alexis Sanchez: Forward key to Arsenal's title hopes says Henry

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes if Alexis Sanchez stays fit then the Chilean star can fire Arsenal to the Premier League title.

The Gunners have not won the league since the ‘invincibles’ side of 2004 – which Henry was a part of – but are currently level on points with leaders Manchester City.

And the Frenchman is confident Arsene Wenger’s side can end that drought, as long as Sanchez avoids injury.

“I’ve said it so many times, but he’s vital for Arsenal,” Henry told Sky Sports.

“If he stays injury-free and shows the desire and the commitment that he has for Arsenal Football Club in the way he plays then Arsenal have every chance of winning the title, but you need to keep that guy fit.

“If he’s fit I think Arsenal have a chance of winning the Premier League. He is that ‘extra’ type of guy that when you’re in trouble he’ll make sure you win the game. I don’t want to copy a show on another channel, but he is the X-factor.”

After starring for Chile in the Copa America, Sanchez had a slow start to this campaign, before bursting back into form with a hat-trick at Leicester City last month.

Henry also picked out Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla as key components to the Arsenal side, saying Ozil has “finally started to deliver on a consistent basis”, while Cazorla is “the brain of the team – he makes that team tick”.
