Heroes and Zeros: The stars and strugglers of matchday 27
Mesut Ozil and Arsenal’s passing statistics at least looked good, despite their weekend defeat to Manchester United, while Memphis had an afternoon to forget.
Arsenal magician Ozil assisted for the 18th time this season in the league, leaving only Thierry Henry (20 in 2002-03) as the man with more assists. The Germany midfielder also volleyed in – only the second time in an away game in the league the 27-year-old has scored an assisted in.
His match rating of 8.50 was beaten only by three other players, with one of those being Arsenal’s chief tormentor Marcus Rashford (8.67), while Lukasz Fabianksi topped the shop with 9.42 after almost single-handedly keeping Tottenham at bay.
Arsenal, who dominated possession in the 3-2 defeat at Manchester United, can also reflect on favourable passing stats, while Memphis, who played the full 90 minutes in United’s Old Trafford victory was left to lick the wounds of a poor personal display.
The Dutchman had six unsuccessful touches and was dispossessed four times. Meanwhile, Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas had almost 50 per cent more touches than anyone this weekend as he orchestrated the Blues win at Southampton.
