Huddersfield survive scare to beat Birmingham

Huddersfield had to come from a goal down but safely progressed past Birmingham by a comfortable 4-1 margin in the FA Cup.

Steve Mounie, Rajiv van La Parra and Tom Ince all struck in extra-time as Huddersfield set up a fifth round clash against Manchester United.

The sides shared a 1-1 draw at the John Smith’s Stadium last month and that was the scoreline after 90 minutes at St Andrew’s, where Blues striker Che Adams’ 52nd-minute effort was cancelled out by Marc Roberts’ own goal on the hour.

But the fourth-round replay was emphatically decided in the additional 30 minutes as the Terriers scored three times to finally end the resistance of the Championship strugglers.

Huddersfield’s victory over Manchester United in October has been the arguable highlight of their first season in the Premier League although Jose Mourinho’s men gained a measure of revenge in a 2-0 win at Old Trafford last weekend.
