Huge blow for Chelsea as Higuain agrees to Milan move

Caldara Higuain

Chelsea look to have missed out on Gonzalo Higuain, after it was reported that the striker has agreed to join AC Milan on loan.

Higuain was suggested as one of Maurizio Sarri’s top targets as he took over at Chelsea, having worked with the Argentine during his time at Napoli.

However, it appears that Juventus’ Higuain will be staying in Italy, by making the move to Milan. He will join the San Siro outfit on an initial loan, before completing a permanent transfer next summer.

As part of the deal, Leonardo Bonucci is expected to return to Juventus after just one season with the Rossoneri, and highly-rated defender Mattia Caldara would also move to Milan. Chelsea had also been linked with Caldara, meaning the agreement is another blow for the Blues.

Higuain is set to leave Juventus in the wake of Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival from Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, Sarri may opt to show faith in Alvaro Morata as Chelsea’s striker, after the Spaniard impressed him in pre-season.
