Huge blow for Liverpool, Arsenal hopes of landing €100m star

Liverpool and Arsenal have been dealt a blow as Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev says that the club will not be selling any key players in January.

After being the subject of a late bid from Arsenal in the summer transfer window, Thomas Lemar will reportedly be targeted by Liverpool and Arsenal. He is also reported to favour a move to Liverpool.

Yet despite all the rumours circulating, Vasilyev says that he has no intention of allowing the club’s best players to leave the club.

“The sales of important players is not on the agenda,” he said.

“We have never spoken [to Lemar or his agent] about the possibility of a January departure.

“The team needs stability. We have re-found a positive dynamic. Now is not the time to break it.”

Lemar has a contract until 2020, and it seems unlikely that he will stay at Monaco beyond the end of next summer.
