Huge boost for Man Utd as De Ligt makes decision on Barcelona move

Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt has rejected a move to Barcelona, according to reports, having Manchester United a huge boost.
The 19-year-old defender has emerged as one of European football’s hottest properties this summer amid reports Ajax are prepared to let him leave for a fee of around €80million.
De Ligt’s future destination at this point though remains unknown, with links to all of United, Liverpool, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, the latest reports in Spanish newspaper Marca claim De Ligt has decided against a move to Barca despite them previously being the favourites to land the Dutchman.
Despite the report saying that a transfer deal had been agreed between the two clubs, his agent Mino Raiola has played a big role in De Ligt’s decision to snub the Catalan club.
Other reports in recent weeks have claimed that Raiola would prefer his client to join either PSG or another club and now it seems he could have got his wish.
United‘s failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League is a major sticking point in their attempts to sign De Ligt with it understood he would like to join PSG.
