De Bruyne blow for Man City as timeframe emerges on latest injury blow

Kevin De Bruyne is reportedly facing up to four weeks out of action with a hamstring injury in what would be a massive blow to Manchester City.

De Bruyne was forced off with the issue during Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa. The result took City top of the table, although they were replaced by rivals United a day later.

A report in the Daily Mirror states that after assessing De Bruyne, City’s medical staff believe his likely absence will be between two and three weeks.

The Mirror adds that there is ‘no appetite at City to rush De Bruyne’s rehabilitation’ as that would risk losing him longer.

He will definitely miss Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Cheltenham, although he would have been rested for that game anway.

De Bruyne is also expected to be absent for Premier League clashes with West Brom, Sheffield United and Burnley.

All eyes on Liverpool clash

But all eyes will be on the trip to title rivals Liverpool on February 7.

Pep Guardiola’s side then play Tottenham and Arsenal in the league, with De Bruyne expected to have recovered by then.

Speaking after the game against Villa, Pep Guardiola said: “Kevin put his hand on his leg. So I have the feeling it will be something muscular.”

City will be hoping that talisman is back for the game against the reigning champions. However, he faces a major race against time to feature.
