Hull v Barnsley preview
Hull’s latest signing James Chester could make his debut in the game.
The 21-year-old, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Carlisle, has signed a three-and-half-year deal and could start in central defence.
Fellow defender Paul McShane could also return after recovering from a shoulder injury, while goalkeeper Brad Guzan and Aaron Mclean, a recent signing from MK Dons, are also expected to be included after both being ineligible for last weekend’s FA Cup clash.
Goalkeeper Vito Mannone, on loan from Arsenal, is still struggling with a thigh injury, defender Liam Rosenior will be missing as he sits out the final game of a three-match ban and midfielder Tom Cairney, who scalded himself at home last week, will not be included despite returning to training.
Tykes manager Mark Robins will select his starting line-up from an unchanged squad.
Robins has no new injury or suspension problems following last week’s 2-0 FA Cup defeat at West Ham, while midfielders Hugo Colace, Jacob Butterfield and Jim O’Brien and striker Andy Gray are all hoping for recalls.
Jay McEveley is making steady progress after having the brace removed from his knee, while fellow defender Luke Potter remains sidelined with a similar injury.
Winger Adam Hammill, currently linked with several Premier League clubs, the latest being Blackpool, is expected to start again, with O’Brien on the substitutes’ bench.
The men from Yorkshire, unbeaten in their last two league matches, are six points adrift of the play-offs in 16th place.
