Ian Wright names Man Utd star Tottenham would accept in ‘no brainer’ Harry Kane swap deal

Ian Wright believes Manchester United have a great chance of signing Harry Kane this summer, despite noises suggesting the England captain is ready to sign a new deal at Tottenham.
Kane, now 29, is just 18 months away from the expiry of his deal at Tottenham. While the club held new contract talks with him in summer 2021 in the wake of strong interest from Manchester City, his contract at Spurs is due to expire on June 30, 2024.
Now equal with Jimmy Greaves at the top of Tottenham’s record goalscoring list, Kane can set a new record high in Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Preston.
He is also closing in on England’s goalscoring record too – and will go down as one of the all-time greats when the time comes for him to quit. The only thing missing really from his mantlepiece at home is some winners’ medals.
Time and again, reports have suggesting Kane could be lured away from Tottenham to fix that issue. And with Manchester United in need of a new No 9 themselves this summer, Kane is being strongly linked with the Red Devils this summer.
That is a scenario Paul Merson is suggesting, with the pundit ruling another Premier League club out of the equation.
Indeed, should Kane’s contract have just a year to run come the summer, speculation will mount that Kane will be off.
Kane himself has this week broken his silence on his future and claims he’s expecting to hear from Spurs in the coming months.
And all the suggestions point towards the player agreeing an extension, with Antonio Conte’s future also intrinsically linked to Kane’s.
Despite that, Wright is adamant a deal to take Kane to Old Trafford is there to be done.
Ian Wright claims Harry Kane could join Man Utd in swap deal
And the pundit has named the Manchester United star that would twist Daniel Levy’s arm in a cash-plus-player swap.
“If Man United came now, Harry Kane with a year left, let’s say they put £60m on the table and we’ll throw in someone – [Anthony] Martial, whatever – it’s a very good deal,” he told his Wrighty’s House podcast.
“If Man United have got any serious thinking about what we need to do next, it’s a No.9. It seems like a no-brainer that Harry Kane is the person. He takes them somewhere else.”
Kane has been in terrific form once again this season, scoring 18 goals for Tottenham in all competitions.
And Wright believes not having that consistent No 9 was the reason behind United’s 3-2 defeat at Arsenal on Sunday.
Comparing the two attacks, he added: “One of the main differences was Eddie Nketiah, a No 9. “That’s what Man United didn’t have because they had Weghorst up there but he wasn’t a threat.
“If we’re going to be totally honest, he was not a threat. When you’re looking at Man United’s trajectory at the minute and where they’re moving, Harry Kane for three years. I think Man United would definitely be doing something. Because Man United are not a million miles away with what Ten Hag’s doing.”
However, Wright’s suggestions may look to be in vain.
Kane will likely sign up for to another lengthy deal with Tottenham this summer. And that news will come as a huge relief to their fans.
With Kane in their side, they will retain that belief their now 15-year trophy wait will one day end.
