Aubameyang tipped to leave Arsenal: ‘It doesn’t look right’

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang TEAMtalk

Paul Ince says he cannot see Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang still being with Arsenal next season.

The 31-year-old signed a new three-year deal in the summer worth a reported £300,000 a week. But since then things have not gone right for the Gabon international and Ince says the striker’s body language is not right.

Aubameyang blasted 29 goals last season, 22 of which were in the Premier League, but he has scored just twice in the Premier League this time around.

His poor form has been matched by the club, with just 10 goals scored from their 10 league games to date.

He has been used on the left wing by Mikel Arteta this season and the striker had admitted it’s not his preferred position, but is happy to help the team.

Aubameyang headed wide when well placed in Sunday’s home defeat to Wolves and former Liverpool and Man Utd man Ince thinks something is not quite right.

“Aubameyang for me is a worry,” Ince told DAZN. “He looks frustrated. He looks like he’s not getting enough service.

“If he doesn’t get service – even though he signed a three-year contract – I can’t see him being there next year. I really, really can’t.

“‘I don’t care [if he’s signed a new deal]. It looks like he’s got that sort of body language that he’s just not happy.

Wright calls for patience

Arsenal legend Ian Wright was alongside Ince doing punditry on the defeat to Wolves.

Wright was desperate to see the Gunners sign the forward to a new contract and believes he was probably promised new signings to help him and the club progress.

“We’ve got a striker that is you have to say in the latter stages of his career, he’s in his best years and he’s signed them to Arsenal,” said Wright.

“Probably on the proviso that there will be players that come in to help him to take Arsenal to where they need to be to but that’s not happening at the moment.

“I’m sure that’s what Mikel wants to do but at the moment he can’t do it. He hasn’t got that money to spend to bring that player in to help as well and he’s trying to coach a team to help them play in a certain way to get results. Patience is needed for me.”
