Injury-doubt Sanchez laughs off burnout talk

Alexis Sanchez: No regrets about leaving Barcelona for Arsenal

Alexis Sanchez: No regrets about leaving Barcelona for Arsenal

Alexis Sanchez might be an injury concern for Chile, but the Arsenal star has dismissed the notion that he is nearing burnout.

Gunners talisman Sanchez is believed to have been nursing a groin problem over the last month, but he has still featured in every game for club and country this season.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has voiced his fears over Sanchez as long ago as last December, when he claimed the 26-year-old was close to the “red zone” regarding his fitness.

Those comments came on the back of the 2014 World Cup where he featured for Chile, before playing 50 times for Arsenal last season, he then helped Chile win the Copa America in the summer before having a brief break and returning to action with the Gunners.

The former Barcelona man, who played in the 1-1 draw with Colombia last Thursday, is set to undergo a late fitness test ahead on a calf problem ahead of Tuesday’s date with Uruguay.

“Alexis has a pain in his calf and we will wait for him until the last minute to see if he is ready to play,” said Chile boss Jorge Sampaoli.

Sanchez is far from concerned about the possibility of fatigue catching up with him though and posted a video on Instagram, labelled: ‘Do you lack energy? I’ll send you mine!’.

In the video, which has received over 72,000 likes, Sanchez says: “You’re tired! I’m sending you some energy!”
