Injury-prone Ramsey slammed and urged to leave Arsenal

Aaron Ramsey: Injury fears

Former Wales coach Raymond Verheijen has blasted Aaron Ramsey and Arsene Wenger after the midfielder’s latest injury setback.

Verheijen suggests it is time Ramsey took responsibility and “stopped gambling with his career”, while he believes it may be time for the Wales midfielder to leave The Emirates to solve his injury problems once and for all.

Verheijen wrote on Twitter: “Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger takes responsibility by admitting he rushed back Aaron Ramsey.”

He added a link to his post with a story which Arsene Wenger admitted rushing Ramsey back too soon, and followed that up with two more tweets.

“During EURO2016 Aaron Ramsey has proven his potential,” he posted.

“Arsene Wenger is not the only person who should become conscious incompetent. When will Aaron Ramsey finally stop gambling with his career?”

Ramsey is set to be ruled out for between three and four weeks after injuring his hamstring in the 4-3 defeat to Liverpool.

The 25-year-old was the only one of Arsenal’s quartet of Euro 2016 semi-finalists to feature in Sunday’s loss to Liverpool, where Mesut Ozil and French finalists Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny were not even involved in the matchday squad.

Summer signing Granit Xhaka and Santi Cazorla were both left on the bench despite having enjoyed longer breaks and played more minutes of pre-season football. The latter was to replace Ramsey on the hour.

“I pushed Ramsey in and he got injured. It’s a very difficult situation to sort out because the players come back late because of the Euros and, on top of that, you play them and they get injured. If you don’t play them you miss them,” Wenger told the club’s website.

Ramsey’s hamstring injury is the fourth the midfielder has suffered in less than two years.
