Inter make swap offer for top Arsenal target as hopes fade for Chelsea star

Inter Milan could offer Ivan Perisic to Atletico Madrid in a swap deal for Arsenal target Thomas Partey, according to reports in Spain.

Thomas is Arsenal’s top target for the rest of the transfer window, with the Ghanaian international eyed as the perfect reinforcement for their midfield.

However, Arsenal have struggled to make an acceptable offer so far. That’s because Atletico Madrid are holding out for €50m – the value of his release clause.

Arsenal have only been willing to offer cash-plus-player deals so far that would equate to a similar amount. However, Atletico have snubbed the chance to sign Alexandre Lacazette or Matteo Guendouzi.

Hope remains for Arsenal, given that Thomas has rejected the offer of a new contract at Atletico. Despite this, he still has three years left on his deal.

Therefore, if any club wants to sign him before the transfer window closes, they will have to come up with a package worth €50m.

Arsenal’s rivals for Thomas’ signature are planning to use similar tactics in order to tempt Atletico. And now, one competitor for his signature is ready to make a move.

According to AS, Inter Milan want to sign Thomas. That’s because they are encountering difficulties in signing Antonio Conte’s top target from his former club Chelsea, N’Golo Kante.

Chelsea are reluctant to let Kante leave, so Inter have switched their attention to Thomas. And to tempt Atletico, they have offered the services of Ivan Perisic.

Perisic linked with Leeds, Spurs

The Croatian winger has fallen out of favour since Conte’s arrival at Inter. He spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich, where he won the Champions League.

Atletico have asked Inter about Perisic in the past, although they recently signed Yannick Carrasco to compete for a similar position in the lineup. That may lessen their interest at present.

Perisic has also been linked with a Premier League move, with Tottenham or Leeds United suggested as potential suitors.

However, reports have suggested that Jose Mourinho has turned down the chance to sign a player he has admired for a long time, as part of another swap proposed by Inter.
