Inter to sacrifice Man Utd target after making Mkhitaryan priority

Italian side Inter Milan have hatched a plan to land Manchester United outcast Henrikh Mkhitaryan, a report claims.

On Tuesday, Inter boss Luciano Spalletti met with club executives to discuss the club’s January transfer plans, and according to Corriere dello Sport he has identified his number one target.

Spalletti is eyeing a move for Mkhitaryan, who has been struggling for game time with United and looks set for an Old Trafford exit.

The former Roma coach believes the Armenia international is capable of playing both behind Mauro Icardi and on the wing.

However, due to Financial Fair Play restrictions from UEFA, any signings will only be made on loan basis without any inclusion of an option to buy.

Spalletti is worried about losing his number one target to Borussia Dortmund, while Inter have also been linked with Javier Pastore of PSG.

The best Inter can do is agree to a ‘right’ to purchase, meaning that Inter will instead offer reported Arsenal target Joao Mario to the Red Devils in order to secure a deal.
