Italian midfield starlet seeks Cellino’s advice amid €40m Liverpool links

Sandro Tonali TEAMtalk

In-demand Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali has claimed that club president Massimo Cellino knows what is best for his future, amid links with Liverpool and most of Italy’s elite.

Tonali helped Brescia to promotion to Serie A this season, drawing comparisons to Andrea Pirlo in the process. The 18-year-old has been linked with AC Milan, Inter, Juventus and Roma, while there is also interest from the Premier League, in the shape of Liverpool and Manchester City.

However, Tonali has revealed that he could snub all those clubs and stay at Brescia.

“My dream is to live football,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I have fun and I slave away for it willingly, but I know I can’t mess up now: I don’t have a plan B…

“Promotion to Serie A was the greatest emotion of my life after being called up to the national team.

“Whatever my future is, I’ll make a decision with my President. Cellino is a good man. He knows what the best solution is for my future.

“I’m happy to stay here. Maybe I could become an icon for Brescia. I don’t have a preference over Inter, Juve, Milan and Roma, I’m just interested in playing.

“Anything is possible, but the football that I like is played in Italy. My father is a Milan fan, while my mother and my uncle are Inter fans.

“As a child I went crazy for the Rossoneri colours and my idol was Gattuso. I was at San Siro for Kaka’s goal against Lazio and I watched Seedorf’s goal at Chievo.”

Cellino has reportedly set a minimum asking price of €40m for the Italy U21 starlet.
