It’s cash or Rashford as Manchester United chase Brazilian star

Man Utd will have to pay big or give up Marcus Rashford to sign Barcelona ace Philippe Coutinho, football finance expert Kieran Maguire claims.

Coutinho has struggled to establish himself at Camp Nou since his £142m move from Liverpool in last season’s January window.

The Red Devils have reportedly been pursuing a deal to bring him back to England before tonight’s 11pm deadline, but the talks may have hit a snag.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Maguire said: “I think United would either have to shell out £125m for him or let one of the crown jewels go.

“[Romelu] Lukaku isn’t the Barcelona type of player.

“But you could see [Anthony] Martial or [Marcus] Rashford being attractive to them.

“Of the two of them, I think the one with the most to gain would be Rashford but United won’t let him go if they’ve got any sense.”

Rashford has become a regular in the United side since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over as interim manager back in December, starting in all of his seven Premier League games in charge.
