Jadon Sancho has dropped the biggest hint yet he intends to sign for Manchester United this summer, while a report has appeared to rule Chelsea out of the race to sign him.
The Borussia Dortmund forward’s development since his £8m switch from Manchester City nearly three years ago has been nothing short of sensational.
The England international has stepped it up a gear this term, having scored 17 goals and assisted 19 others in 35 appearances and now reportedly tops Manchester United’s list of targets for the summer transfer window.
And while United tried, and failed, to sign him last summer, it looks increasingly likely that its a case of second time lucky for the Reds Devils after it was claimed Sancho had given the green light on a move to Old Trafford.
Furthermore, it was suggested the player will wear the No 7 shirt and will opt to move to United regardless of whether the club secure Champions League football or not.
And while nothing has been confirmed at this stage, an Instagram live chat that Sancho took part in on Sunday evening has now added serious fuel to the fire that a move to Old Trafford is on the cards when the window opens.
During his video, one fan wrote to the player saying: “Sip water if your (sp) joining united.”
After appearing to consider his reaction for a second, Sancho then took a big gulp of water from his water bottle.
The reaction typically sent United fans into raptures with many responding with claims of “IT’S HAPPENING!”
Whether Sancho does move to United or not remains to be seen, but reports in Easter Monday’s papers placed the 20-year-old at the very top of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s summer wanted list – with all 10 players he wants to bring to the club named.
United’s prospects of landing him appear to be on the up too after a report on Sunday claimed that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, despite being a huge admirer of the player, had no intention of trying to bring him to Anfield.
That would seemingly leave United as favourites, and those hopes were given yet another lift when it was claimed that the former Manchester City winger has no desire to move to London and link-up with Chelsea, who have also been linked.
As per Diario Madridista, a move to Stamford Bridge does not excite the winger and he has no intention of joining Frank Lampard’s side. However, the report does claim Real Madrid are genuinely interested in the England man and will match any offer from United to sign Sancho this summer.
Furthermore, it’s claimed Dortmund are seeking €130m (£116.2m) for Sancho and the Bundesliga side will not budge from their valuation of the player were any side make a concrete approach to sign him.
Sancho told to be cautious over Man Utd move
Former Manchester City and Leeds full-back Danny Mills fears a move Old Trafford could be a step back for Sancho and reckons he should be asking the club a lot of questions before committing to the transfer.
“If I was Jadon Sancho I’d be wanting to ask the questions: ‘Who else are you bringing in?’” Mills told talkSPORT.
“‘What other signings have you got lined up? What is the squad going to look like next season? Are you realistically going to be challenging for things?’
“‘Who is going to be the manager? Is it still going to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer next season?’
“He’s in a position of strength at the moment. He wants to go and win things, that’s the most important thing.
“He’s going from a fantastic club, he’s gone through his development phase, he’s now going to start hitting the peak development phase and he wants that to be the best years.
“There’s no point going to Manchester United next season if they’re going to finish sixth or seventh.”
