Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho admitted that Tottenham were simply the better side in their 3-0 Champions League win on Wednesday night.
Spurs produced an outstanding second-half display to take a big advantage into the second leg of their last-16 tie against the German outfit, having been dominated by Dortmund – and Sancho in particular – in the opening period.
Son Heung-Min, the outstanding Jan Vertonghen and Fernando Llorente all notched for Mauricio Pochettino’s men at Wembley and England winger Sancho had nothing but praise for Spurs and the man who marked him, Vertonghen, after the game.
“Tottenham was the better team,” said Sancho. “First half, we played really well, but second half we dropped a bit and lost focus.
“Jan Vertonghen is a good player but hopefully next time we can handle it better. I am just happy that I am in England and playing in front of my family.
“I am happy that I am home and I hope I gave the audience something they never knew about me. We will keep believing we can score more than them and hopefully we can get through to the next round.”
