Pundit tells Jadon Sancho to ‘deal with pressure’ or sit on Man Utd bench

Jadon Sancho has been told to “deal with pressure” or face losing his place at Manchester United.

The England winger finally arrived at Old Trafford in the summer for a £73m fee from Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho has made eight appearances for United, including a start in Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Villarreal. The 21-year-old though has only made two Premier League starts and he is yet to find his feet back in England.

In fact he has yet to score or assist, and while Cristiano Ronaldo continues to take the plaudits, Sancho has struggled for form.

That is not ideal with Marcus Rashford on the comeback trail.

Rashford revealed on Twitter that he is set to get the green light to return to contact training on Friday.

The England international has not featured for United so far this season following an surgery on a shoulder injury.

And pundit Paul Robinson believes Sancho will have to get up to speed very quickly or face more time on the sidelines.

“Yes, Sancho has had a very slow start but everyone knows what a brilliant player he is,” he told Football Insider.

“Man United have got a huge squad and with Rashford coming back Solskjaer will have the opportunity to change things up.

“When you play for a club like United if you are not performing, you don’t play. It is simple. I think that is something Sancho will realise in the next few weeks. He has been poor since he has come in.

“I’m sure he will soon regain the form he showed at Dortmund in time. Moving to Manchester United is a huge challenge. It is completely different to any other experience. He needs to learn to deal with the pressure.”

Watzke: Sancho struggles hurting my soul

Borussia Dortmund, CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke, has revealed his hurt at the fact that Sancho does not yet have the same role of prominence in England as he does in Germany.

Arsenal and Man Utd target to command enormous transfer fee

Arsenal and Man Utd target to command enormous transfer fee

Bayer Leverkusen will command upwards of £80 million for Arsenal and Manchester United target Florian Wirtz, as Anthony Martial is reportedly open to joining Spurs, while Mikel Arteta looks set to be backed in the transfer window again.

Dortmund developed Sancho into a top talent during a four-year spell between 2017 and 2021. After Manchester City couldn’t provide him with a pathway to first-team football, the move to Germany worked wonders for him. Subsequently, Man Utd pursued him for more than a year before finally getting their man in July.

Watzke told Sport1: “I love Jadon. When you see him playing you get tears in your eyes.

“It hurts my soul that he is given so little consideration. I think his problem is that he’s not set in the English national team.”
