James Rodriguez sets record straight and makes bold Everton prediction
James Rodriguez insists he is happy at Everton and sees no reason why they cannot challenge the very best European clubs in the coming years.
James, 29, joined Everton on a free transfer in September last year. He had fallen down the pecking order at Real Madrid after spending two seasons on loan with Bayern Munich.
The Colombia forward was happy to reunite with Carlo Ancelotti, who signed him for the Bavarians. It has not all been plain sailing at Goodison Park, however.
The South American has shown glimpses of his undoubted talent and has five goals to his name. He has assisted eight but also been criticised for drifting in and out of games.
It was reported earlier this season that he was not happy on Merseyside. Rumours began to circulate that he would seek a return to Spain in the summer.
But, speaking to the club’s official website, it appears as though that is not the case. And his relationship with the coach seems to have helped smooth his transition to the club.
“It’s been very easy to settle,” he said. “I’ve come to a good club, a club that wants to achieve big things.
“I’m with a manager who knows exactly what I’m like. He knows how to relate to his players and staff.

“I get on fantastically well with him, just like a father and son. So, everything was very easy and straightforward.”

The Toffees have enjoyed a solid campaign to date and sit eighth in the Premier League standings. They are pushing for European football next season and face a vital few weeks in their season.
James has been sidelined with a calf problem since February’s Merseyside derby. He may well be fit for Everton’s next game when they entertain Crystal Palace on April 5.
And the former Monaco man believes he can influence proceedings even more when back on the pitch.
“I’m reasonably happy with how I am playing,” he added. “I think there’s more to come and I can hit some better form.
“But when I’ve performed well, it’s had a positive effect on the team.”
Everton’s planning application for their new stadium has received Government approval. It looks as though the club is moving in the right direction.
James has tasted the big time at his two previous clubs. And he feels the Toffees can be just as big as Real and Bayern going forward.
“Yes, why not?” he continued. “Firstly, we need to be fighting it out around the top of the league.
“The past two games haven’t been as good as we would have liked but that’s the Premier League. Every game is like a final – a battle.”
