Jamie Carragher has suggested that Bobby Duncan’s agent is a clown after a scathing statement was released on Wednesday.

Duncan’s agent Saif Rubie has gone public on Liverpool’s treatment of 18-year-old Duncan, after the club blocked the forward’s proposed departure from Anfield.

Rubie tweeted that “today is the final straw” dealing with Liverpool’s sporting director Michael Edwards, who he claims has refused to sanction a transfer for Duncan, who is unhappy at the club.

The agent claims Duncan missed the Premier League 2 clash with Southampton this week due to “some deep mental health issues” and claimed the player will never return to Liverpool.

That has led to a response from Carragher, who says he “knows Bobby and his family well” suggesting that Rubie’s advice is not in the player’s best interests and finished his tweet with a clown emoji.

Danish side FC Nordsjaelland and, most recently, Serie A club Fiorentina were understood to have been interested in Duncan, but Liverpool have blocked loan moves for the player, who is the cousin of Steven Gerrard.

Rubie claims he found clubs that were ready to take the youngster on a season-long loan with a option to buy for around £1.5m upwards, but all those proposals were blocked by Edwards.

The tweet also prompted a response from Rubie.
