Jesse Lingard celebrates scoring a goal for West Ham against Tottenham.

Jesse Lingard believes he has already settled in at West Ham after playing a key role in their win over Tottenham.

Lingard had not featured at all in the Premier League this season when he left Manchester United on loan in January.

Since his move to West Ham, he has rediscovered his form. He scored a brace on his debut for the club and added a third goal in his fourth game, getting what proved to be the winner against Spurs.

The move to West Ham seems to be paying off for both club and player. Lingard has helped his new club into the top four.

While there is still plenty of time before they can be sure of their final position, things are looking up at the London Stadium.

After beating Spurs, Lingard shed light on the mood in the West Ham camp at present.

He told Sky Sports: “A brilliant win. The lads are buzzing.

“We grafted. Luck was on our side today.

“It was just about maintaining the same intensity in the second half. We knew it would be a graft, that is what as a team we are about, working hard for the three points.”

Lingard has been revitalised since his January move. While his longer-term future remains unclear, the England international is simply glad to be enjoying his football again.

He said: “It is brilliant, the lads have taken to me. I have settled in really quickly.

“I am playing each game with a smile and enjoying my football and that is the most important thing.”

Game at a time

West Ham are now in the Champions League places, territory they were not expecting to be in this season.

As the attention begins to turn to a potential European challenge, Lingard sent a clear message about their targets for the rest of the campaign.

He added: “Everyone has the same mindset and goal for the end of the season and the same targets.

“We don’t look at the table too much and will take it game by game but this is an enjoyable position to be in.”
