The 35-year-old will face his former side Scunthorpe on the final day of the season before his contract expires in the summer.

He told the club website: “It’s been a crazy two years for me. I had the euphoria of winning the league two years ago and since then I’ve played about 13 games, it’s been hard.

“I’m out of contract in the summer so whether I play here next year is out of my hands but I’ve had three fantastic years here.

“I’m only 35 and I want to play football, it’s as simple as that.

“I want to stop when I want to stop not when someone else tells me to stop. My body feels good, I feel fit and strong so why not carry on?”
