Henderson explains which Man Utd, City stars he admires most

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has named Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford and Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling as two of his international teammates that impress him most.

Henderson has earned 55 caps for England since making his senior international debut in 2010. Naturally, the current Three Lions squad sees him lining up alongside some players he would normally call rivals at club level.

Speaking to Rio Ferdinand on YouTube, the midfielder has picked out Rashford and Sterling as two he admires.

He said: “You look at Marcus who’s been out with injury, but such a talented player. He does stuff in training where I just think ‘wow’.

“Look at Raheem now. How he’s blossomed. Obviously I was playing with him at the very start, he’s gone from strength to strength. He’s turned into such a good player.”

Henderson spent three full seasons as Sterling’s teammate at Anfield, before the latter left for Manchester City in 2015. And despite making his international debut later, Sterling has one more cap for England than the Liverpool man.

Henderson in Alexander-Arnold praise

The Liverpool skipper also took time to praise someone he shares a pitch with for both club and country – Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The right-back has established himself as one of the best in his position in the world. And Henderson, who has been his teammate from the beginning, believes he can make it to the very top.

“You forget Trent’s so young,” he said. “He’s achieved so much at a young age, but he’s mature and has got great people around him to keep his feet on the ground.

“Works hard, wants to improve and the sky’s the limit for him as well.”

That praise echoed similar words reserved by Henderson for Jadon Sancho. The Borussia Dortmund and England star is being linked with a return to the Premier League, and Henderson described him as a “special player”.
