Key Tuchel cog at Chelsea will ‘evaluate’ Serie A return this summer

Jorginho Tuchel TEAMtalk

Jorginho’s agent has refused to rule out a return to Napoli and has in fact claimed they will “evaluate” any offer for the midfielder.

Jorginho has become a key man for Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel. He has missed just one Premier League game in the 10 matches since the German took over. The midfielder missed Chelsea’s 2-0 win against Sheffield United in the FA Cup quarter-finals. And Italy boss Roberto Mancini said Jorginho wasn’t selected for their forthcoming World Cup qualifiers due to illness.

“As regards to the midfielders. Wwe are really in a bit of difficulty in the centre,” said Mancini in his press conference on Monday.

“We’re missing Jorginho, who wasn’t well. He’d taken a knock to the knee and he wasn’t fit to play in these games so we didn’t risk him.”

Despite the player’s importance to the Blues his future has often been called into question. Maurizio Sarri has been linked with taking Jorginho back to Napoli, if he himself returns to Naples this summer.

And Jorginho’s agent Jorge Santos has done little to quell that talk after speaking about the 29-year-old’s future on Radio Marte.

Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi is hopeful he can work his way into England's squad in time to feature at Euro 2020.

“There are many rumours about that because he did so well at Napoli,” Santos told Radio Marte. “It’s a special moment for him. He is an important player for Chelsea now. However, he is an Italy international, and we are thinking about a return to Serie A if he leaves the Blues.

“If Napoli will make an offer, we’ll evaluate it. He had a great time in Naples, and he has many friends over there.”

Jorginho made 160 appearances for Napoli between 2014 and 2018 before moving to Chelsea with Sarri.

Jorginho bait for Dybala?

Meanwhile, report on Monday claimed Tuchel could offer Jorginho in a bid to land Juventus star Paulo Dybala.

Tottenham and Chelsea are apparently major contenders for his signature. Juve are seeking €60m (£51.7m) for a forward, who boasts 98 goals in 244 appearances for Juve.

However, Calciomercato believes Dybala is more likely to sign for Chelsea. They state Tuchel has identified the former Palermo man as a key target this summer.

And in order to land his man, the Italian outlet claims Tuchel is ready to give Juve their pick of three players in part exchange. As per the report, the most likely man to make way is Jorginho.
