Jose Mourinho switches goalkeeper targets – report

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is set to switch goalkeeper targets after Atletico Madrid refused to budge on Jan Oblak’s buyout clause.

According to the Sunday Express a move for Oblak is in doubt with the La Liga club maintaining they will not drop the £85million clause in the goalkeeper’s contract.

David de Gea is expected to finally seal a move to Real Madrid this summer, leaving Mourinho with a big void to fill and the 24-year-old Oblak is his preferred replacement.

That said Mourinho is not prepared to spend big on the Slovenian and is now believed be have switched his sights to fellow Slovenian Samir Handanovic.

Inter Milan man Handanovic has been tracked by Liverpool, but Mourinho is now keen on the 32-year-old, who has two years left on his Inter contract.

Handanovic though “wants to leave Inter despite the fact that they are ready to spend big this summer as new Chinese owners Suning look to make a statement”.

United have also been linked with Leicester City’s Kasper Schmeichel, the son of club legend Peter, but Leicester do not want to sell and especially not to a fellow Premier League club.
