Journalist shoots down rumours of Willian, Mourinho talks amid Spurs links

Willian has denied rumours he held talks with Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho regarding a move across London, according to Brazilian journalist Joao Castelo Branco.

The winger looks to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge in the next transfer window with his Blues contract set to expire at the end of the season.

The 31-year-old joined Chelsea from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala for £30million in August 2013 and has gone on to make 329 appearances for the club, scoring 59 goals and winning two Premier League titles.

But with his game time now more limited under Frank Lampard it had been suggested that he could reunite with former boss Mourinho, who brought him to England, at Tottenham from next season.

Last week, the player admitted he still has a good relationship with the Portuguese manager, but is yet to receive an official offer from Spurs.

It has since been suggested that he has discussed a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Mourinho, however a report on the Evening Standard states that Willian has “completely denied” those claims to Castelo Branco, who adds that a deal is “absolutely not even close.”

Spurs currently have Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela as their right wing options, but neither have come close to finding their top form this season.

Therefore, the addition of Willian, who would provide plenty of Premier League experience, could prove to be a smart piece of business by the North London club.
