Second Tottenham player threatens exit with simple Mourinho ultimatum

Tottenham centre-back Juan Foyth has said that he would be fully prepared to find another club if he is not given sufficient game time by boss Jose Mourinho.

Foyth, who moved to Spurs from Estudiantes in the summer of 2017, made eight appearances – none in the Premier League – in his first season under the club’s former head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

It appeared that Pochettino was beginning to put faith in his fellow Argentine, handing the 22-year-old 17 outings last term including 12 in the top flight.

An ankle injury restricted his game time at the start of the current campaign but he still made more appearances – four – in the final months of Pochettino’s stewardship than the three he has made under Mourinho so far.

Speaking to TNT (via Sport Witness), Foyth insisted that he would not think twice about changing clubs if he became frustrated at a continued lack of game time.

“You always want to play to feel like a player and feel good,” the defender said.

“It isn’t easy not to play either. But I don’t know, we have to wait now for the transfer window to open. If I am going to have opportunities here, I will be very comfortable.

“And if they won’t count on me, the best thing will be to find another club.

“I would like to stay in Europe, all leagues have a high level. My wish is to play at the highest level as long as I can. The main thing is to play.”

Foyth is the second senior Spurs star to admit uncertainty over his future in North London after striker Harry Kane.

The England captain insisted that he too would switch clubs if he felt Spurs were not progressing, with the club coming closest to silverware in recent years by reaching the finals of the Carabao Cup and Champions League.

While Manchester United have been touted as a potential destination for Kane, one pundit has suggested that Liverpool would be a good option for the 26-year-old.
