Klopp looking to solve Liverpool weak point with audacious £59m swoop

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is planning an ambitious raid on Real Madrid to bring midfielder Isco to Anfield, according to reports.

The Reds have had the luxury in the past few transfer windows of not needing to dip into the market for first-team additions, with Klopp having assembled a settled squad of players.

Liverpool have been almost unstoppable so far this season, having dropped only two points in the Premier League heading into Thursday’s clash with Wolves.

Klopp has no need to address any glaring holes in his team but according to Spanish outlet El Desmarque, one area the manager has identified as a “weak point” is attacking midfield.

Liverpool have not had a recognised playmaker in midfield since the departure of Philippe Coutinho, with full-backs Andy Robertson and Trent Alexnder-Arnold providing the bulk of the team’s creativity.

The source says that Klopp is keen to restore the club’s attacking outlets from midfield – while providing something different to the roles his current midfielders have – and believes Isco is the perfect player to perform that job.

Isco has reportedly been the subject of a €56m (47.3m) bid from another club but it is said that Madrid want €70m (£59.1m) for the player.

Otherwise, the source says, Liverpool will have to look at signing Napoli’s Fabian Ruiz, who could cost even more than that.

Isco, who has made 17 appearances for Madrid so far this season, has also been linked with Chelsea.

The Spanish international has won four Champions League titles – among other trophies – in his time with the club.

In other Liverpool transfer news, Liverpool are stepping up the chase to sign Nice winger Pedro Brazao according to reports.

The Reds have been largely quiet in recent transfer windows, spending the summer bolstering their youth ranks.

According to FootMercato, another youngster who could come in is Portuguese starlet Brazao, 17.

Liverpool and PSG are said to have opened talks about a possible transfer.
