Klopp’s stance on frustrated Liverpool midfielder revealed after exit claims

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has “total faith” in Naby Keita and has no plans to offload the midfielder this summer, according to reports.

Guinea international Keita moved to Anfield in the summer of 2018, a year after a deal with RB Leipzig to sign him was announced by the Reds.

The 25-year-old initially impressed under Klopp but the story of his Liverpool career to date has been a string of small injuries halting his progress, after several spells where he showed exciting glimpses of his talent.

Previous reports have indicated that with Keita failing to justify his £52.75million price tag, the midfielder could be on a shortlist of players who could be moved on in the summer.

According to Football Insider, however, Klopp has no plans in place to wield the axe on the playmaker.

The source says that Klopp is of the belief that Keita can be a Premier League star if he can shake off the injuries which have held back his progress in the top flight to date.

Keita played a vital role in helping Liverpool reach a club-record 97 points in the Premier League last season but he has only made nine outings in the top flight this time round.

In other news, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is reportedly considering a move for Liverpool right-back Nathaniel Clyne this summer.

Clyne is out of contract at the end of the season and has not been offered an extension, having lost his place through the emergence of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
