Klopp warns Liverpool Everton will do damage after transfer masterclass

Carlo Ancelotti, Jurgen Klopp TEAMtalk

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says Everton counterpart Carlo Ancelotti performed “perfect” recruitment in the recent transfer window.

The Toffees bolstered their midfield with the signings of Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and James Rodriguez.

Attacking midfielder James has had the most telling impact, scoring three goals and assisting two others in four Premier League games so far.

But Doucoure and Allan have both proved crucial in providing strength and mettle to Ancelotti’s side. Centre-back Ben Godfrey has also signed from Norwich but is yet to make his debut.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Klopp hailed Ancelotti for his work in helping his side progress.

“Top team, top manager. What I think about Carlo Ancelotti was never a secret,” the Reds boss said (via Liverpoolfc.com). “I couldn’t respect him more as a person and as a coach. He’s a wonderful human being, to be honest.

“I knew from the first day when I heard that he will sign for Everton, I thought, ‘Ah, the next proper challenger in line.’

“Now I think they did perfect business in the summer. They found pretty much exactly the players they needed to improve an already pretty good football team.

“Together with being more used to what Carlo wants them to do makes them a pretty strong team.

“I’m really not surprised about the way they play.”

Liverpool, Everton to clash on Saturday

The comments come ahead of the first Merseyside derby of the season between Everton and Liverpool on Saturday.

Everton sit top of the Premier League table, with a 100 per cent record so far. Liverpool, meanwhile, return from the international break after a 7-2 loss to Aston Villa.

However the Reds are likely to welcome Thiago Alcantara and Sadio Mane back into the fold. Both have been self-isolating after testing positive for Covid-19.
