Juve boss talks about Emre Can amid reports of £85,000-a-week deal

Juventus have reached an agreement to sign Liverpool midfielder Emre Can on a free transfer, according to a report in Italy.

Sky Italia claim Can held advanced talks with the Turin club on Thursday and has now agreed to a pre-contract agreement which will see  him move on a free transfer to Juventus at the end of the season.

The Germany international is out of contract in the summer and has held talks over an extension at Anfield, but the 23-year-old is believed to want a release clause inserted in his new deal and the club are unwilling to do so.

Can was a transfer target for the Serie A winners in the summer and the Turin-based club have made public their interest in the former Bayer Leverkusen man.

And ahead of Juve’s clash with Cagliari this weekend, boss Massimiliano Allegri spoke about Can.“

Everybody knows Emre Can’s qualities, he is a top player. He is young but with International experience. He is a Germany International and plays alongside big players like Kroos and Khedira. However, I don’t want to talk about the transfer window,” said Allegri.

Juventus apparently tried to get a deal done this month and contacted Liverpool with their initial offer. However, having made an opening approach of €5.5million, the offer hasn’t gone down too well at Anfield, with the Reds seeing the offer for Can as something of an insult.

And Tuttosport claim that Jurgen Klopp has blocked Can leaving Anfield this month, regardless of any improved bid from Juventus, with the player now agreeing to move at the end of the season.

Last month Can was guarded when asked about his future and claimed the failure to sign a new contract was not a money issue. He told the Liverpool Echo: “Why do you ask me this?

“Really, I concentrate on this season and let my agent handle all the rest.”

Sky Italia report that the Italian champions are offering Can a five-year deal, which will see him improve his current £55,000 a week wages to around £85,000-a-week, plus a signing-on bonus.
