Blow for Liverpool as Italian media claim Juventus will sign Goretzka
Juventus are reportedly closing in on the signing of a Schalke star – beating Liverpool and Barcelona to his signature.
The Serie A giants are close to striking a deal with Schalke to sign their in-demand midfielder Leon Goretzka, a report in Italy.
“Juve- Goretzka: Yes”, reads the front page of Italian paper Corriere dello Sport, as it is believed that the Old Lady have edged very close to completing the signing of the German midfielder.
That comes despite the news on Monday with reports in Spain declaring Liverpool had won the race to sign the in-demand Schalke star.
Goretzka is being tracked by a number of clubs, including Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Tottenham Hotspur and most notably the Merseysiders.
But Juventus president Giuseppe Marotta has apparently hatched a plan to snatch Goretzka, who Germany assistant Oliver Bierhoff stated was heading to the Premier League last week, but Juventus are looking to do business swiftly.
Goretzka’s current deal with the Gelsenkirchen club expires in the summer and Schalke are allegedly resigned to losing him for free when the campaign ends.
While Juventus are hot on the heels of the 22-year-old, they are also still in for Liverpool’s Emre Can, a man who is top of their list of priorities according to Calciomercato.com.
