Darmian and Lingard: Labelled not good enough

Juventus are leading Serie A rivals Napoli in the race to sign a Manchester United defender, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com state that Juve directors Beppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici are working on a deal to bring Matteo Darmian to Turin this summer.

The Italian full-back has struggled for opportunities at Old Trafford this season, and the report claims that Jose Mourinho is “more than willing to allow him to leave” at the end of the season.

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri rates Darmian highly, with the 28-year-old having previously starred for the Bianconeri’s city rivals Torino.

Darmian has already indicated his desire to join Juve with a move back to Italy seen as his best option, but the futures of Stephan Lichtsteiner and Kwadwo Asamoah could decide whether the Serie A champions move for him.

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can continues to be strongly linked, while Juve have also apparently enquired about the availability of Arsenal right-back Héctor Bellerín.
