Arsenal target undergoing Saints medical ahead of €18m move

Juventus midfielder Mario Lemina is undergoing a medical with Southampton ahead of a €18million move.

Lemina, 23, has been widely reported to be heading to the Premier League and Calciomercato claim Lemina is currently having his medical with the Saints before signing his contract with the Premier League side.

“An official announcement is expected to be released in the coming hours but the Gabonese midfielder can already be considered a new Southampton player.”

Lemina joined Juventus from Marseille on loan in summer 2015 with the Serie A giants who made his move permanent for €8million one year later. The Gabon International played 42 games and scored three goals during his two-year spell in Turin. He has won two Serie A titles and two Coppa Italia with Juventus.

The former Marseille man will join Manolo Gabbiadini at Southampton. The Azzurri star moved St. Mary’s in  January completing a €17million move from Napoli.

The player, 23 was linked with a £20million move to Arsenal in June, with Watford also being credited with an interest, according to the Italian media.

And speaking about the links in June, he told French publication Foot Mercato: “I am flattered by the interest of Arsenal and Watford. I am playing for a big club now but I am happy about the interest of other clubs.

“I do not have a preference for any league. My future depends on who really wants me.”

Lemina has also been linked with a move to Lyon, but he admits making that move would be difficult given his Marseille allegiances.

“I don’t think I’ll be moving to Lyon. I am from Marseille and I am not interested in joining them. I don’t think I have a chance to return to Marseille,” he added.
